Grow

Children spend the year playing and growing at Curiosity Corner. The development occurring during that year is remarkable. It’s important to remember each child is his/her own person and has his/her own experience.

With that in mind, Curiosity Corner embraces Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) to promote children’s optimal development by recognizing and supporting each child as valued members of our learning community. DAP considers the needs of the individual child as learners as well as the group at large. Our teachers adapt their classrooms and lesson plans to accommodate the needs of their entire class as well as each child. Engaged learning through play in a nurturing setting builds a solid foundation for children to become lifelong learners.

Collaboration between parents and teachers is essential to the children’s success. We encourage parent-teacher engagement. Getting to know the children through their parents’ insight is an important component in assisting our teachers with supporting the children’s development. Through parent/teacher communication, we share the children’s experiences at school and home. By better understanding the children in and out of the classroom, teachers are better equipped to support the children’s growth and development. Informal communication before and after class is a simple way to coordinate. Email and phone calls are also encouraged. Additionally there are scheduled opportunities throughout the school year for parents and teachers to meet in person.
